  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • milk, as needed
  • apples, peeled, cored, and quartered

  • spice for sprinkling apples
  • syrup
  • cornstarch
  • lemon juice
  • grated lemon peel

  • grated nutmeg or other spice

Method

  1. 1 Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. 2 Work in butter and add enough milk to form a dough.
  3. 3 Roll out half the dough and line a deep buttered baking dish.
