Baked Apple Dumplings With Cinnamon Sugar

  • 5 apples
  • 4 tablespoons Crisco
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • Sugar and cinnamon for filling
  • Extra Crisco for greasing pan
  • Extra sugar for topping

Method

  1. 1 Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  2. 2 Work 4 tablespoons Crisco into the dry ingredients with your fingertips.
  3. 3 Add milk gradually, mixing with a knife to form a dough.
  4. 4 Roll dough 1/2 inch thick and cut into squares.
  5. 5 Place a pared and cored apple in the center of each square.
  6. 6 Fill the center with sugar and cinnamon, then pinch the corners of the dough together.
  7. 7 Place dumplings in a greased baking pan, dot with sugar and Crisco.
