Baked Apple And Onion Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 3 breakfastcupfuls Allinson breadcrumbs
  • 3 eggs
  • 1.5 lbs apples
  • 2 lbs Spanish onions
  • 2 oz butter
  • 0.5 tsp spice
  • pepper and salt to taste
  • hot milk

Method

  1. 1 Slice onions and apples. Stew gently with 1 oz butter, spice, and seasoning until tender.
  2. 2 Mix breadcrumbs with beaten eggs and enough hot milk to smooth.
  3. 3 Butter a pie dish with 0.5 oz butter. Layer breadcrumbs, then apple/onion mixture.
  4. 4 Repeat layers until dish is full, finishing with breadcrumbs.
  5. 5 Dot top with remaining butter bits. Bake for 1 hour.
  6. 6 Serve with brown gravy.
