Baked Apple And Bread Crumb Pudding
Ingredients
- sliced apples
- bread crumbs
- butter
- sugar
- ground cinnamon
- ground cloves
- ground allspice
- molasses
- water
- cream or sauce for serving
- raisins or chopped almonds (optional)
Method
- 1 In a quart pudding dish, arrange alternate layers of sliced apples and bread crumbs.
- 2 Season each layer with bits of butter, a little sugar, and a pinch each of ground cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.
- 3 When the dish is full, pour over it a half cup each of mixed molasses and water.
- 4 Cover the top with crumbs and place the dish in a pan containing hot water.
- 5 Bake for 45 minutes or until apples are soft. Serve with cream or sauce.
