Bacon Gravy With Toasted Bacon

Ingredients

  • bacon, sliced thin
  • flour (for gravy)
  • 1 cup sweet new milk
  • pinch of black pepper

Method

  1. 1 Slice bacon as thin as possible.
  2. 2 For broiling: Place slices in a shallow tin and toast in a hot oven until dry and curled.
  3. 3 For frying: Cook slices in a hot skillet, turning twice, until slightly browned.
  4. 4 To make gravy: Thicken the rendered lard with flour, then stir in milk and pepper.
