Bacon And Onion Fish Chowder
Ingredients
- ¼ lb bacon, diced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 lbs chopped fish
- 3 potatoes, sliced
- 1 quart water
- 1 pint milk
- 6 water crackers
Method
- 1 Fry bacon and sliced onion in a frying pan until lightly browned.
- 2 In a saucepan, layer potatoes, fish, and the fried onion/bacon mixture. Season well.
- 3 Add 1 quart water, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes without stirring.
- 4 In a double boiler, heat milk and crumble in water crackers. Let stand briefly.
- 5 Add the milk mixture to the chowder, bring to a boil once, and serve.
