Bacon And Onion Fish Chowder

Ingredients

  • ¼ lb bacon, diced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 lbs chopped fish
  • 3 potatoes, sliced
  • 1 quart water
  • 1 pint milk
  • 6 water crackers

Method

  1. 1 Fry bacon and sliced onion in a frying pan until lightly browned.
  2. 2 In a saucepan, layer potatoes, fish, and the fried onion/bacon mixture. Season well.
  3. 3 Add 1 quart water, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes without stirring.
  4. 4 In a double boiler, heat milk and crumble in water crackers. Let stand briefly.
  5. 5 Add the milk mixture to the chowder, bring to a boil once, and serve.
