  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Cooked apricots
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 cup jelly

Method

  1. 1 Cream sugar, shortening, and egg yolk until light and frothy.
  2. 2 Add water, flour, and baking powder; beat to mix thoroughly.
  3. 3 Pour into a well-greased layer cake pan and bake for 20 minutes in a moderate oven (350°F).
