Apple Pie With Lemon And Nutmeg
Ingredients
- 5 sour apples, peeled, cored, and cut into eighths
- 1 pie crust
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Lemon rind gratings
- Butter, cut into small lumps
Method
- 1 Line a pie plate with pie pastry. Arrange the apple eighths evenly in the crust.
- 2 Mix sugar, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and lemon rind. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the apples.
- 3 Dot the apples with small lumps of butter. Wet the edges of the bottom crust.
- 4 Cover with the top crust and press the edges together to seal. Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 45 minutes.
