  • ½ lb bread crumbs
  • 3 oz granulated sugar
  • grated lemon rind
  • 1 oz butter

Method

  1. 1 Peel, core, and slice the apples.
  2. 2 Butter a pie dish and add a layer of apples.
  3. 3 Sprinkle with bread crumbs, lemon rind, sugar, and small pieces of butter.
  4. 4 Repeat layers until the dish is full, finishing with a top layer of crumbs and butter.
