Apple And Date Custard
Ingredients
- 2 lbs apples
- 1/2 lb dates
- 3/4 pint milk
- 1/4 pint cream
- 6 cloves tied in muslin
- sugar to taste
- 3/4 cup water
Method
- 1 Pare, core, and chop the apples. Stone the dates.
- 2 Stew the fruit with 3/4 cup water and the cloves until tender. Remove cloves.
- 3 Rub the cooked fruit through a sieve until smooth.
- 4 Gradually mix in boiling milk, then stir in the cream.
- 5 Serve cold with sponge cake fingers.
