Apple And Bread Dressing
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter or drippings
- 2 tablespoons chopped onions
- 1 quart finely chopped apples
- 4 cups stale bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon grated nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon paprika
- 1 egg, beaten
Method
- 1 Melt butter or drippings in a frying pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and cook for a few minutes until softened.
- 2 Add the finely chopped apples to the pan and cook briefly. Meanwhile, soak the stale bread crumbs in cold water for a few minutes, then drain and press out all excess water.
- 3 Add the squeezed bread crumbs to the pan along with the parsley, salt, nutmeg, pepper, and paprika. Stir in the beaten egg.
- 4 Mix everything thoroughly and cook until the dressing is heated through and well combined.
