Angel Food Cake
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups large egg whites
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sifted flour
Method
- 1 Preheat oven to 325°F. Wash hands with soap and water.
- 2 In a large bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and beat until stiff peaks form, but not dry.
- 3 Gradually beat in sugar. Add vanilla and salt.
- 4 Gently fold in sifted flour until just combined.
- 5 Pour batter into an ungreased 10-inch angel food tube pan.
- 6 Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes until top is nicely browned. Invert pan to cool completely before removing.
