Angel Food Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sifted flour

Method

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 325°F. Wash hands with soap and water.
  2. 2 In a large bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and beat until stiff peaks form, but not dry.
  3. 3 Gradually beat in sugar. Add vanilla and salt.
  4. 4 Gently fold in sifted flour until just combined.
  5. 5 Pour batter into an ungreased 10-inch angel food tube pan.
  6. 6 Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes until top is nicely browned. Invert pan to cool completely before removing.
