Almond Topped Sweet Bread Cake
Ingredients
- 2 cups bread sponge
- 1 egg, well beaten
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup tepid water
- flour, as needed
- 1 egg, beaten with 1 teaspoon sugar
- granulated sugar
- split blanched almonds
Method
- 1 Mix bread sponge, 1 egg, sugar, butter, and tepid water. Add enough flour to make a thin dough.
- 2 Let dough rise until double in size.
- 3 Turn onto a board, roll out an inch thick, and place in a baking tin. Let rise again until light.
- 4 Brush top with egg beaten with 1 tsp sugar. Sprinkle with granulated sugar and split blanched almonds.
- 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until done.
