Ingredients

  • 2 lbs light brown sugar
  • ¾ lb butter
  • 2 lbs flour
  • 3 eggs
  • Milk as needed to make a stiff dough
  • Beaten egg and milk mixture for brushing
  • Blanched almonds
  • Cinnamon and sugar for dusting

Method

  1. 1 Combine sugar, butter, flour, and eggs. Add enough milk to form a stiff dough.
  2. 2 Roll the dough very thin and cut into desired shapes.
  3. 3 Brush each tart with a mixture of beaten egg and milk.
  4. 4 Place two or three blanched almonds on each tart.
  5. 5 Dust with cinnamon and sugar.
  6. 6 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until set.
