Delete Your Etch Account

Last updated: September 13, 2026

You can delete your Etch account from inside the app. If you cannot open the app, you can ask us by email.

Delete Your Account in the App

Open Etch and go to Settings > Delete Account:

  • Open Etch and tap Settings
  • Tap "Delete Account"
  • Confirm

Etch signs you out and clears the journal stored on your phone. The deletion then runs in the background on our servers and normally finishes within minutes.

What Is Deleted

Deleting your account deletes your Etch account record and the Etch data stored with it on our servers: your entries, summaries, moods and tags, weekly reflections, daily prompts, your AI profile, advice and any AI content reports you sent.

Some records are kept for a set time after that, as listed below.

What Is Kept, and for How Long

  • Database backups: deleted data can remain in point-in-time backups for up to 35 days, and then it expires.
  • Server logs: kept for up to 30 days, then deleted.
  • Failed background tasks: held for up to 14 days, then discarded.
  • Error reports: reports the app sent to the Etch server when something went wrong include your user ID, and are deleted automatically 30 days after they were sent.
  • A deletion record (your user ID, the request time and its status), kept so we can show the deletion was done.
  • Your shared PPV sign-in: the sign-in you use for Etch and other PPV apps is kept, so those apps keep working.

If You Cannot Open the App

Email hello@ppv.digital with the subject "Delete my Etch account" from the email address you use to sign in. We reply to confirm the request and then delete the account for you.

Delete the Shared PPV Sign-In Too

To also delete your shared PPV sign-in, which other PPV apps use, email hello@ppv.digital from the address you sign in with and ask us to delete it.
