Bite Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
PPV Enterprise LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Bite mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
When you use Bite, we collect:
- Your email address and name (via Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple)
- Meal logs you create: food descriptions, ingredient lists, estimated portions, and calculated macros
- Photos you submit for food analysis (uploaded to and temporarily stored on our servers — see "AI Processing & Food Photos" below)
- Voice recordings submitted for food logging (transcribed on your device; the audio is not uploaded or stored)
- Daily nutrition totals and trends
- Device information and error reports (for crash diagnostics)
- Your device Advertising ID, used to show ads (see "Advertising" below)
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the Bite app
- Analyze food photos and voice/text input using AI to identify ingredients and portions
- Look up nutrition data from the USDA FoodData Central database
- Display your meal logs, macro totals, and daily summaries
- Power the AI coach with context about your logged meals
- Diagnose errors and improve app reliability
We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.
AI Processing & Food Photos
When you submit a photo for food analysis, the image is uploaded to our cloud storage on Amazon Web Services (AWS), in the United States, where it is stored encrypted as the source material for analysis. The photo is then sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) to identify the foods in it and estimate portions.
We retain each uploaded photo only as long as needed for analysis and to let you re-analyze or refine that result. Photos are automatically deleted approximately 30 days after upload (typically within about 30 to 31 days) by an automated storage-expiration rule. A photo is also deleted right away if its analysis fails.
When you delete your account, all of your meal logs, nutrition data, and profile are deleted immediately, and the food photos you uploaded for analysis are permanently erased from our cloud storage right away. (Source photos from analyses that were never tied to account deletion — for example, if you simply stop using the app without deleting your account — are instead removed automatically by the same storage-expiration rule, approximately 30 days after upload.)
AI-generated nutrition estimates are verified against the USDA FoodData Central (FDC) database. When a USDA match is found, macros are sourced from USDA data. When no match is found, the AI estimate is used and flagged as an estimate.
AI food analysis is not a substitute for medical or dietary advice. Accuracy varies by photo quality and food type.
Third-Party Services
Bite uses the following third-party services:
- Google Gemini API for AI food analysis. See: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- USDA FoodData Central for nutrition data (public database, no personal data shared).
- WorkOS for authentication. See: https://workos.com/privacy
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) for data storage and hosting.
- Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads) to display advertising in the app. AdMob collects and uses your device Advertising ID to serve and measure ads. See: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads and https://policies.google.com/privacy
Advertising
Bite is free and supported by advertising. We use Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads) to show banner ads inside the app.
To serve these ads, AdMob collects and uses your device Advertising ID (the Android Advertising ID or Apple's Identifier for Advertisers). This identifier, along with limited device and ad-interaction information, is collected and shared with Google for advertising purposes — including showing ads and measuring ad performance. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your meals, photos, or nutrition data with advertisers.
You control advertising tracking through your device settings. On Android you can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, under Settings → Privacy / Google → Ads. On iOS you can turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track" or deny tracking for Bite under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and limit ad tracking under Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
For users in regions that require consent for advertising (such as the EU, UK, and Switzerland), Google may present a consent prompt governing how the Advertising ID is used. You can learn more about how Google uses advertising data at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
Data Storage & Security
Your meal logs and account data are stored on AWS servers in the United States, encrypted at rest. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using platform-native secure storage.
Food photos are transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit) and stored encrypted on AWS in the United States. They are kept only as source material for analysis and automatically deleted approximately 30 days after upload, as described in "AI Processing & Food Photos" above.
While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, we do not guarantee against data loss. Meal logs, macro data, and other content stored in Bite may be lost due to technical failures or other causes beyond our control.
Data Retention & Deletion
You can delete individual meal entries at any time within the app. You can delete all of your Bite data from Settings, which immediately removes:
- Your Bite profile (targets, goal, and body stats)
- All meal logs and nutrition data
- The food photos you uploaded for analysis
This data is deleted immediately and cannot be recovered, including the food photos you uploaded for analysis, which are erased from our cloud storage right away. Deleting your Bite data does not delete your shared sign-in account used across other PPV apps; it signs you out and removes only your Bite data.
Children's Privacy
Bite is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data within the app at any time
- Delete any meal entry you have created
- Delete all of your Bite data from within the app at any time
- Reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings, as described in the "Advertising" section above
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
